- BRUSSELS, 29 JUNE (Reuters) - The European Commission's president, Ursula von der Leyen, is no longer in possession of text messages she exchanged with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla in order to finalize a COVID-19 vaccine contract, according to a letter revealed on Wednesday.
- Von der Leyen disclosed in an interview in April 2021 that she had texted Bourla for a month while they were negotiating a big vaccination contract.
- The Commission claims in the letter that text messages do not need to be registered and preserved because they are "short-lived, ephemeral documents."
