  • A charter bus carrying 56 students from the University of South Carolina overturned on Friday on Interstate 10 in Hancock County, resulting in injuries to 11 individuals, as reported by Trooper Cal Robertson of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

  • Robertson mentioned that nine students were transported to local hospitals by ambulance. The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. on the westbound lanes of I-10 between the Diamondhead and Mississippi 603 exits, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

  • The westbound lanes of I-10 remained inaccessible for hours as emergency responders and authorities cleared the road and ensured the safety of the students. Onlookers stuck behind the crash site had parked their vehicles and were observing the situation from outside.
