The film 'Let It Be,' which captured The Beatles' final group performance and remained hidden for five decades, is set to make a comeback on Disney+ with an elaborate restoration by Peter Jackson. The revamped version is scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform on May 8.

Peter Jackson's award-winning 2021 docuseries 'The Beatles: Get Back' included footage originally intended for 'Let It Be.' The success of the series prompted Apple Corps to commission Jackson's Park Road Post Production for a meticulous restoration of the film from the original 16mm negative. This process also involved enhancing the sound quality using technology similar to what Jackson utilized in the 'Get Back' series.

The film features a wealth of footage from the studio session in January 1969, during which John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr - accompanied by keyboardist Billy Preston - crafted the 'Let It Be' album, recorded music, and performed atop Apple's London headquarters.

Initially, the critically acclaimed album, winner of multiple Grammys, faced delays due to internal band tensions. However, Lennon enlisted producer Phil Spector to help finalize it as preparations for the film's theatrical release were underway.
